Ciclic general objetives
The general objective of CICLIC is to develop smart environmental technologies and tools that can be used to monitor the occurrence, fate and impacts of contaminants in Mediterranean wetland ecosystems in a scenario of climate change.
CICLIC will develop the following products:
Smart technologies based on massive data collection, treatment, analysis and preservation, imaging, etc. to establish the impact of climate change on the ecosystem by mapping vulnerable areas.
Model and risk scenarios for the fate and ecological effect assessment of contaminants in Mediterranean wetlands.
A set of risk prevention and mitigation measures to be taken into account in the preservation of Mediterranean wetland ecosystems, and that can be used to shape future environmental policies.
Validated methods for the assessment of contaminants in water samples, and persistent/legacy contaminants in sediment samples, to asses past and current contaminant pressures.
Tools for the ecotoxicological characterization of chemical effects at different levels of biological organization.
Advanced analytical tools for the evaluation of PMOCs in different matrices (i.e., soil, water, biota) to assess environmental and human health risks associated to wastewater re-use.
Experimental data and a framework to predict and assess the interactive impacts of climate change and chemical stress on the resilience of aquatic ecosystems.
